Considering the way they live I’m surprised they have survived at all. For the males, the phrase “long cold winter” takes on a whole new meaning .

Yeah I don’t think there’s another higher order species that survives at such an extreme edge of survivability.

Males huddle together and endure the brunt of an antarctic winter with an egg on their feet without eating for months.
