From the article:

“During the course of my 42-year career as an investigator,” Hughes concludes, “the investigation of TWA Flight 800 was the only case in which I witnessed deception, lies and corruption on the parts of investigators and their management. The extraordinary measures to which the NTSB, FBI and CIA went to falsify and distort witness statements or accounts of what occurred, to alter and hide physical evidence and to mount a false public relations campaign to misinform the public, was unconscionable.”

I didn’t read the article fully ... I don’t need to ... we have approximately 30,000 commercial aircraft ,, all burn kerosene .. a rather stable fuel ... and I believe fuel pumps are generally external to the tanks for ease of maintenance.

We also have over 300,000,000 automobiles in this country ... over 98% burn gasoline , and almost every one built in the last 25 years has a fuel pump inside the fuel tank and at some point the electric pump connections , typically simple spade connections , are exposed to fuel vapor and not liquid fuel... I have never heard of or seen reported a fuel tank explosion from a car ,, and in a car it is much more likely to have a minimal amount of fuel heat soak off of hot pavement (the fuel tank bottom being less than a foot from the asphalt) ... which was a takeaway from the investigation into TWA800...
