Another nanny statist that thinks guns are just for hunting or target shooting.
An unloaded gun locked away somewhere is worthless for self defense or controlling animal pests.
I’ll unload and lock up my guns when cops start unloading and locking theirs in the trunk of their car!
They don’t? LOL! I can’t believe all the crap strapped on to the deputy sheriffs around here. Tasers, guns, pepper spray, 87 handcuffs, extra magazines, extra periodicals, shoe shine kits, 5 radios, two cell phones, back up ankle gun. I don’t know how they can move. ;>}
“An unloaded gun locked away somewhere is worthless for self defense or controlling animal pests.”
You’re right. I grew up in rural Arkansas (I’m 68) and kept a 22, 12 guage, and an old surplus 30-06 Springfield in my bedroom propped in a corner. In fact, I personally bought the Springfield in a general mercantile store out of a barrel for $10. And, every kid I knew had guns much the same as I did. Point is, guns were, and still are, a part of that culture. Guns were common in the home and in pickup trucks. So, kids grew up being familiar with guns, no mystery involved. Now, I live in suburban DFW, raised three kids and have two grand kids. While my kids all shoot and the oldest is even a hunter (married to a hunter) guns are not a daily part of their lives as they were mine. So, I keep all my guns locked up in a gun safe. I also keep a handgun in a small quick access combo safe sitting on my bedroom dresser. While not the best situation, it gives me peace of mind concerning youngsters being curious, especially visiting kids who know absolutely nothing about guns.
Yeh agreed. Sorry but we like our guns out where we can get to them if we need them. When the grandkids come we lock up everything except whats on our person.
