RENO, Nev. (AP) U.S. Bureau of Land Management officials say they agree with a Nevada sheriff's position that rancher Cliven Bundy must be held accountable for his role in an April standoff between his supporters and the federal agency.
Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie said Bundy crossed the line when he allowed states' rights supporters, including self-proclaimed militia members, onto his property to aim guns at police.
"If you step over that line, there are consequences to those actions," Gillespie told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "And I believe they stepped over that line. No doubt about it. They need to be held accountable for it."
Bureau spokeswoman Celia Boddington, in a statement released Saturday to The Associated Press, said the agency continues to pursue the matter "aggressively through the legal system."
"There is an ongoing investigation and we are working diligently to ensure that those who broke the law are held accountable," she said, declining to elaborate.
The FBI declined comment Saturday on its investigation. Bundy did not respond to a request for comment.
The Bureau of Land Management says Bundy owes over $1 million in fees and penalties for trespassing on federal property without a permit over 20 years. Bundy, whose ancestors settled in the area in the late 1800s, refuses to acknowledge federal authority on public lands.

Will those same people come to his aid again? This will entail 24/7 surveillance of his property to prevent a 3am no-knock arrest, communication network that’s up 24/7, and enough people.
Feds asking for someone to be accountable? That’s rich...
Because Bundy refused to sign their contract they refused to accept his money.
And the contract said they could take the land and control everything.
The Feds created this whole fiasco by their own intention. Bundy was right not to sign
and now they want heads to roll. well, to be fair, they pointed GUNS at the
Bundys first without JUST CAUSE. And Tasered/assaulted the son to boot.
Just about every Fed there was from out of state, that's the DHS way to murder.
I wish we had good pictures of Every Fed that was there and placed them
all on a special web sight for all to see what Treasonous bastards they all are.
Seems to me Mr. Bundy can have whoever he wants on his property. It is his property.
As for aiming guns at police, seems there were plenty of 'police' aiming guns, and if history is an indicator (Waco, Ruby Ridge), only the deterrent of guns aimed back kept shots from being fired.
We’ll see who will be held accountable.
When you work for government and you concoct and carry out a scheme to trample on the rights of Americans, you best be prepared to answer for your actions.
And that goes for Harry Reid and his sons, and their designs on open public land.
Typical sheriff...a coward politician.
That is exactly right. They did not go there for a standoff, they went there
to kill! Every Fed there was dressed in War garb to back up their killing spree.
We've seen it before and history is the record of their actions.
1. Bundy says he paid his fees - to the state - who cashed the check and who still retains said funds in their treasury. To say he owes money is a lie and to say he owes more than all other ranchers combined is a bigger lie designed to provoke a negative emotional response in the public.
2. Bundy’s family was attacked by wanna-be-a-soldier-when-i-grow up thuggery. Cattle and calves were being used for target practice and run to death in a blatent show of animal cruelty. This is not the first time the BLM has brutally slaughtered rangestock. A citizen has a right to self-defense of his family and property. Sometimes that includes asking others for help.
3. Public opinion is negative towards the BLM handling of the situation. The BLM should accept it’s over, they lost, and sit down and work a deal where Bundy retains his range and his water rights. A jury of his peers will let him walk - all day long - so further pursuit of Bundy is wasted effort and taxdollars.
Every one of these jackboots should have every last bit of information on them and their families published everywhere. Names, pictures, personal data, habits, etc. All the info they use against you and me. It’s time to fight fire with fire and use their tactics against them.
They all have to sleep, live somewhere, have families and be out in public at times. Put the spotlight on them. Call them on their crimes and show the damage they caused to innocents.
And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.

Finally a government agency that believes in enforcing the law. Of
course the target of their wrath is a hard working American citizen.
Place a few hundred squatter illegal alien border stormers on
BLM land and their azzholes would pucker. Screw the BLM, IRS, DOJ,
FBI, State Dept, and (fill in the blank).

Yup
Where do I get that second patch ?
Evil Duke Reid is pulling the sheriff of Nottingham’s strings, and King Obama his, and the evil witch Valjar his and the Necromancer Sauros hers ... ...
Unless "those...people" decide to go preemptive.
Doubtless such an action would be *after* Mr. Bundy's untimely demise, but that would be the next step in escalation.
The people responsible are Harry Reid, the head of the BLM, and that racist bastard in the White House and his stool pigeon racist buddy Holder.
One of the side stories is that historically the BLM actually helped the ranchers and the ranch owners had no problem paying them whatever the fees were.
Eventually in the late 80’s or 90’s I don’t recall the blm started getting sued by the EPA and they stated losing. That was the end of the BLM being on the side of the ranchers. They changed sides and we see the result.
