At least 13 people have been shot in Chicago at the start of the long holiday weekend, including a woman killed as she sat on a porch near Garfield Park and a man slain in front of a hair salon on the South Side, police said.

The mother of the boy, Andrea Byes, said she is planning to move out of the two-flat where she lives with her children because of the violence, drug sales and loitering on the block.
"I'm not surprised something like this happened," said Byes, 40. "It was a matter of time. They're all over everywhere. . .These people are used to it. It's like an everyday normal thing, and it's sad that these children have to grow up thinking it's an everyday normal thing."

“I dont understand. Why doesnt the city council just pass a law against murder? That would solve the problem.”

No, you don’t understand, you have to outlaw anything that can be used to commit murder, no legal sales of baseball bats, screwdrivers, knives, hammers, large wrenches, rope, tires, grapevines, firewood etc... on the other hand just mandate that everyone must have their arms and legs amputated, that ought to really put a dent in the murder rate.
Mr. Mercat and I are planning a road trip to New England and have to find a way that avoids Chicago and Detroit, as in all roads lead to:
37 shot and only 3 fatals? These ghetto rats need some range time.
Brought to you courtesy of LBJ, Democrats and the “Great Society”. They have turned cities into incubators for parasites and predators and they are working well.
Wait until all the little illegals grow up - can’t wait to see the turf battles. /s
Not the hijack the thread here, but in the 70s my wife and I was travelling through Europe doing the backpacking thing by train. Met another couple from Rhodesia (at the time) and travelled with them for a couple of days.
He said that when he was in high school, he and his buddies would go into the bush on weekends and kill rebels. He said that many of them had guns that did not work. And in some cases the rebels thought the guns were magic and you needed to know magic to make them work. Anyway, he said he stopped doing it because it was too easy. Animals were more challenging prey.
Don't know if it was true or not. But one of my friends is from South Africa and based on what he has told me about that part of the world, I think I believe it.
From your link:
“Corey Hudson, 34, was killed and a 35-year-old man was wounded in front of a salon where children were getting their hair done overnight. Shell casings littered the sidewalk and bullets had pierced a nearby gyros restaurant. Getting their kids hair did.....at 2:40 in the morning. Think about that for a moment. This is what passes for parenting in Englewood? Good thing it wasn’t a school night or anything, right?”
Through Saturday, the tally is now up to 36, including three shot by police. It will likely be a hot Sunday as well.
I thought somebody might say that! I’d like to see the evil elements in Chicago terrorized for awhile with snipers, slowly giving them a taste of their own medicine.
They can still bite. Or maybe we can call it a draw.
‘It’s like an everyday normal thing among blacks’
Fixed it.
I live in a region where nearly everyone carries yet shootings are rare. So...why won’t the voters in Chicago “reset” the gun control laws at the polls?

I’m just an old white-haired human male. I can’t be expected to think of EVERY little detail, can I? Okay, so everybody has to have their teeth pulled and no dentures allowed.
