Radioactive material stolen in Mexico: officials
Mexico City (AFP) - The Mexican government warned Friday that a vehicle containing radioactive material has been stolen, and issued a dire warning to the thieves against taking the potentially deadly material from its protective container.
Federal civil defense officials said the vehicle had been transporting deadly iridium-192, a radioactive substance used in making some industrial products.
The substance "can be dangerous for human health if removed from its container," the officials said in a statement, adding that the material can be lethal even if handled for only a brief time.
The theft in Mexico state prompted officials to issue an alert throughout the capital region and in neighboring states.

ahh..was waiting on this..had heard something like this to happen on the 4th...really nice to go along with the open border don’t cha think? and O did not want to go to the border hmmm..and the syrian chems on a ship headed this way , along with all the folks exposed to anthrax the other week, along with the H1N1, HIV, TB, and what ever else they bringing across the border..looks like everything is coming right together! :/

I understand the concern on this thread, but this happens a LOT. Yay-hoos of whatever nationality hijack a truck just aiming to sell whatever’s in it. Remember a few years back when the thieves got a lethal or almost-lethal dose of radiation in this exact scenario?
