The Army last week began notifying about 1,100 captains that they will be purged from the ranks. The same fate is awaiting about 500 majors, who beginning this week will be told their active-duty careers are over. They're among nearly 2,500 officers and NCOs who will be involuntarily separated this year as part of an ongoing drawdown of forces.

some officers who were let go are scrambling to find a home, as well as a job. Thankfully for the captain who's expecting his first child, his landlord is allowing him and his wife to continue to rent the house at their current location without any hassle. He just wishes the Army gave him more answers.

We would like for them to separate in Texas. They’ll like it and we have special programs for vets who separate in Texas.
They are wanted here.
“why are we not ALL in The Streets demanding this ALL STOP NOW??”
Haven’t you heard? Dear Leader sez all wars have been “completed”.
One more correction: “Enlisted”. :)
It’s not a bloody purge, for God’s sake. Will you clowns calm down? It’s a RIF. People get totally screwed in these every single time. Higher level incompetence nearly assures it.
“Repeat of 91. I knew a guy who PCsd to Korea, then got told 3 days after he arrived that he was RIFd.”
Unfortunately, this is typical of any large bureaucratic organization. It happens because lots of different inside organizations are trying to meet their goals and sometimes those goals are at cross purposes. In the corporate world it isn’t unusual for Production to pay $200k to have a machine refurbished and updated only to have that machine sold as scrap at .02 on the dollar a week after it is up and running again. One would hope that there is involved leadership monitoring the inner workings of the various departments but my experience however is that leadership is more concerned with golf and internal politics rather than management.
Looks like we my have some good officers for the Revolutionary Forces.
Echoes of Stalin.
I went through the 91-94 drawdown in the AF. On the officer side they had to slash mostly O-3s and below. They first riffed all the reserve officers, which was about a third. Then they went after the prior enlisted with 20 years or more with the SERB. Then they reduced the promotion % to Major.
That was still not enough, they waived the service committal for Academy grads and others. They even had a limited 15 year retirement. Personnel has many management tools available to accomplish the downsizing, most are not pretty.
But we have billions upon billions for the Muslim brotherhood and Illegal invaders.

Obama may have “Declared Victory” but America has yet to Surrender.
and it is always the OCS grads that take the first hit, not the Professional Officers that went to West Point and then rarely left stateside.
