The White House is required provide Congress with an annual list of every one of its employees

It's 2014 list, published today, shows that the president has 456 aides

The lowest paid White House staffers make $42,000 a year, while the president's senior staff members make nearly four times that at $172,200

The White House published its annual list of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue staff their salaries today.

This year's list reveals that 456 aides serve at the pleasure of the president and make anywhere from $42,000 a year to $172,200 a year.

Among the highest paid White House staffers are: National Security Adviser Susan Rice, Senior Adviser to the president Valerie Jarrett, White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest and Counselor to the president John Podesta.

The White House has been required by law to disclose the names, titles and salaries of every one of its employees to Congress since 1995.

'Consistent with President Obama's commitment to transparency,' Obama's administration has also opted to make the data available to the public each year in an easily searchable chart.

Because of a pay freeze instituted by the president, senior-level White House staffers have continued to earn same exact amount as they did when the president took office....

If you think $400,000 is too low, then why do so many fight so hard for the job. Do not dare to compare government and private corporations. When “conservatives” don’t get the difference, there is not much hope.

This will no doubt raise a lot of hackles on this thread but I think these salaries are entirely too low. When the Chief of Staff of the president the United States makes only $172,000 a year, he is clearly underpaid.

It's not the money, it's the power.

You are forgetting about all the perks that go with that $172,000.

I took a job close to that amount in the private sector and it seemed low. That is until I realized I was getting $900/mo for driving allowance, clothing allowance, and expense account which basically allowed me to eat at restaurants at company expense (so long as I was on road performing company work). Whenever I needed to travel, the company had a department that arranged plane tickets, transportation, hotel reservations and so forth. Basically I didn't have to pay for anything out of pocket Monday through Friday.

So when you add in all those perks, the "modest" salary is much more. Then you have the power of the position as well.

Wonder of any enterprising Republican will be smart enough to take this list and show that women are suffering from pay inequality in the Obeyme White House?
