ENG 602: Critical Race Theory (CRT)
Lee Bebout and Ersula Ore
In this course we will examine the social construction of race and its effects as they pertain to dynamics of race and power in American society. Course readings will originate from a variety of fields, including history, law, cultural studies, literature, and rhetoric. This class is guaranteed to be engaging as well as challenging. We will work through the oft difficult, fraught and unsaid aspects of race, justice, and American culture. Readings will include work by George Lipsitz, Krista Ratcliff, Joel Olson, Eduardo Bonilla-Silva, Richard Delgado, and Michelle Alexander among others. While our focus will be on U.S race dynamics, we welcome students in other areas to add to the conversation.
