The REAL smoking gun is that if confidential Federal Tax Information (FTI) on the Republican candidates in the 2012 election cycle ended up at Democratic National Committee headquarters and in the hands of certain members of Congress.

Viewing even one FTI document in an unauthorized fashion can get the person subject to a felony charge; this could end up finishing the careers of powerful Democratic Senators like Harry Reid and Charles Schumer.

I’m with you. I think the IRS helped the DNC (via intermediaries to try to cover the paper trail) by harassing conservative groups and even divulging tax records of political candidates. Remember Harry Reid chirping about Romney’s taxes. Where else did he get that information?
