Try claiming free speech after making disparaging comments about your commanding officer. Try claiming religious freedom when the military requires you to work on Sundays (or Saturdays). Try claiming you have a right to keep and bear arms in the barracks.
You won’t get far, nor should you. You give up many freedoms in the military in order to best defend the rights of others.
that’s why I said ‘basic tenets’. not speaking against your superiors is understandable. but being forced to live the religious life of another’s religion is something different
