House Speaker John Boehner and House Republican inaction on immigration reform has been an invitation for President Obama to take executive action on the matter, Democrats argued Thursday.
Since the Speaker has not brought immigration reform to the floor, he invites, clearly, the actions of the executive branch to try to do that which the Congress seems to be incapable of doing, New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez argued at a gathering of House and Senate Democrats marking the year anniversary of the passage of the Senate immigration reform bill.
Boehner and House Republicans have balked at the idea of immigration reform this year, saying they do not trust Obama to enforce any law they pass.
According to the Democratic lawmakers and the Obama administration, however, there is one month left for the House to take action on immigration reform.
A year has gone by. I dont know how much more time he thinks he needs. But I hope that Speaker Boehner will speak up today, and if he does not, the President will borrow the power that is needed to solve the problems of immigration and he shouldn't be sued as a result of it, Illinois Sen. Richard Durbin said....

He just wants to pass amnesty so he can use it
on it on himself.
The DemocRATS are still trying to heal from their ObamaCare beating. I don’t think they could survive if their “messiah” passes amnesty with his pen and phone.
He stole it during a 2010 visit to Chappaqua. Hillary and Huma always wondered what happened to it.
What you said kind of reminds me of the fraidy rats in Massachusetts before Romney granted gay marriage in that state. The courts, who by Mass constitution could not create law to grant gay marriage, ordered the legislature to do something. The dems who control the legislature were too afraid to do anything. Uninvited and not requested by anyone, Romney stepped in and ordered the clerks to issue licenses to gays or lose their jobs.
The democrats know they will be destroyed if they issue amnesty unilaterally. They have to have a republican take the lead in amnesty like Romney did with gay marriage. Boehner does not have the fortitude to help them in an election year especially with all the troubles the GOPe has had with the TEA party. But, maybe that is why Romney keeps sounding like he would like to run in 2016.
The dems won’t do it alone. The republicans in leadership don’t have the guts. So Romney to the rescue of the dems and the illegals. Jeb Bush may also figure he can be a slightly more conservative illegal/dem savior. I’m sure of one thing, no one who gets the republican nomination will be able to say send them all back. And if the person who becomes the nominee does happen to say that, chances are they will have a change of heart between election 2016 and inauguration 2017.
Sounds like something a wife beater would say.
Thanks for the info. I think if the GOP would only stand fast, amnesty will go nowhere. IMHO. The ‘RATS are afraid to do it and are trying to shame the GOP into passing it. I wish they’d realize that.
I sadly must agree with you.
The MSM would be shouting from the rooftops what a noble person The Won is and how unfeeling, uncaring the Pubs are. O was forced to do this...forced I tell ya.
Somehow I think we just got checkmated again.
Makes sense. Boner gets everything he wants. Obama gets everything he wants. And the whole situation gets blames on republicans. Obama doesn’t have to do anything to pin this on Republicans because the repubs are ball less cowards.
It’s one thing to use Executive Orders to fill in the gaps where things are very unclear - but he is wanting to simply have a new law granting amnesty where that issue was addressed by Reagan and Congress actually working together - a one time accommodation that was to have been followed by stricter enforcement and a more secure border.
The absolute abrogation of his oath of office to “faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution” is galling. He is not executing the Office of President - he has become an absolute dictator with the willing collusion of the Democrat controlled Senate. The Supreme Court has been knocking him back fairly consistently, with even the liberal Justices joining in to some degree. Let him take another unconstitutional action and let the Supreme Court provide another final decision against him. Some of the decisions have been rather narrow but it is clear that even the lib’s have had enough, and the one thing they will try to preserve is three branches of Government with some check on the Executive.
“House Republican inaction on immigration reform has been an invitation for President Obama to take executive action on the matter, Democrats argued Thursday”
So would that be the same thing as not having enough money in my bank account being an invitation for me to rob the bank to get the amount of money I’d really like to have?

The House has every right to absolutely nothing on anything if that’s what it wants to do. It’s our system. And, Obama and the Dems can give speeches and hold rallies against the House for doing nothing on immigration...which is also our system. Likewise, House Members can give speeches about how the Dems want to give amnesty to illegal immigrants when our country is going broke. This can all happen and is fair.
What can’t happen is executive action on immigration because the House isn’t acting. That’s illegal, unconstitutional, and impeachable. The House is not ‘inviting’ executive action. The House is preventing executive action......which it has every right to do. Checks and Balances!!!
1. Many of us believe that once Obama gets his immigration reform bill passed, he will change it, or enforce only parts of it that he chooses.
2. For instance, look at Obamacare.
3. Obama has made so many changes to the original law through executive action that it is hardly recognizable.
4. So any lawmaker who is thinking about immigration reform this year must seriously re-think his decision.
