With a mild emphasis on “allegedly” ..”The 28-year-old blogger, Clayton Kelly, allegedly went into a nursing home and photographed the bedridden wife of Republican U.S. Senator Thad Cochran without permission and posted an image online as part of an anti-Cochran video”
What in the world might someone have been thinking when they did this? People get old, they get screwed up and demented and fall into bodily disrepair. It happens to everyone unless they die outside eldercare of some sort. Was this supposed to make Cochran seem too old? Fine, call him too old, but to denigrate his poor wife? Very defective thinking if it was part of some strategy.
It was. But, driving a man to suicide over whatever involvement he actually had? Perhaps there are other unknown issues here.
“Was this supposed to make Cochran seem too old? Fine, call him too old, but to denigrate his poor wife?”
No, the point was to show that Cochran’s wife was languishing in that nursing home, while he had been gallivanting around for years with his mistress/assistant at public events. The attack was meant to denigrate Cochran, and the wife was “collateral damage”.
That same defective thinking would also explain suicide. I can see a bi-polar type lacking the judgement in an up phase and thinking that taking the picture and publishing would torpedo Cochran and make him (the blogger) a hero. Then crashing to down phase when it all comes apart, facing legal troubles and a Cochran win causing him to make a quick and permanent exit in despair.
Since when does photographing the wife of a public figure require authorization?
Can celebs now sue paparazzi for taking unauthorized photos of them?

“Look at the piteous person Thad is neglecting while swinging around with his new lady love” ??
The most interesting aspect of the “taping scandal” is that Cochran’s camp knew about it for two weeks before notifying the police and the media. It came after revelations about Thad’s living arrangements in D.C. came to light, and the fact that he aide/land-lady has accompanied him on dozens of overseas trips since Mrs. Cochran entered the nursing home.
Thad’s a real paragon of virtue. Ditto for his cronies in the GOP-e. I’m a former resident of the Magnolia State and still have friends in political circles there. There have been rumors for months that Cochran only ran for re-election as a favor to Haley Barbour. One of Haley’s spawn wants to be a Senator, and (assuming he wins re-election in November), Thad will step down in 2017 or 2018, clearing the way for Phil Bryant to appoint the younger Barbour to the post.
No excuse for videotaping Mrs. Cochran in the nursing home..but her husband certainly used the incident for his political advantage.
Kelly is a scumbag for taking that photo. How does this factor into this so-called suicide?
I agree with everything you said, but I’m wondering what crime was committed by doing that. Trespass? Maybe. Civil liability? Possible. But what crime?
Those facilities don’t just let anybody in.
Visitors have to have permission.
There’s more to this than meets the eye.
Now that this guy has .... died .... it makes it a whole lot murkier.
