BREAKING: 25,000-35,000 Democratic Voters Carried Thad Cochran to Victory
http://www.thegatewaypundit.com ^ | June 25, 2014 | Jim Hoft

Mitch McConnell, the NRSC and the Chamber of Commerce went all in for moderate Thad Cochran in Mississippi (57% conservative rating with Heritage Action):

Back in Washington, Cochran’s most important allies resolved to muffle their anxiety and stick with him for another three weeks. The Chamber of Commerce polled the race, concluded the senator had a difficult but viable path to victory; the group began brainstorming inventive ways to make a splash in the state, culminating with a sensational commercial starring NFL legend Brett Favre. National Republican Senatorial Committee political director Ward Baker, confronted with Beltway pessimism about Cochran’s chances, repeatedly told Republicans in D.C.: “We don’t leave our people on the field.”

But it took 35K Democrats to push him past grassroots challenger Chris McDaniel:

Surprisingly, more votes were cast in the runoff than in the June 3 primary. McDaniel increased his vote from 155,000 on June 3 to 184,600 last night. But the 25-35,000 Dems who crossed over to vote for Cochran gave him the extra margin to surpass his opponent.

This is more reason for Chris McDaniel to run as a write-in candidate in the general election.

Tell me again, Michael Medved and Bill Bennett, how establishment Republicans are different from Democrats?

Hmmm .. how is Michael Medved different from Democrats?!?

>> When GOP or a RINO send envelopes for donations, return them empty except a piece of paper <<

One piece of paper isn’t heavy enough to generate extra postal fees. What about putting your message on a sheet of lead?

Kenny - I agree. On every mailing from the RNC and the RINOs statewide, send it back with “REMEMBER MISSISSIPI”

I’d love to get this going on every front. When they call with a poll, REMEMBER MISSISSIPPI and hang up. Mail, pickets outside of GOP events, march on D.C. whatever we can get going.

I don’t think they’re smiling. I think they’re sh*tting their pants.

Barbour and Rove are both experiences political operatives. They can read the numbers.

The numbers show a decisive 35,000 Dem turnout for Cochrane. You don’t get that with flyer,or some robocalls or doorknocks by a few dozen GOP operatives.

The ONLY way you get that is if the Democrats activated their GOTV machine and directed people to go to the polls for Cochrane.

IOW they got played by the Dems. In going after Dem votes I think they were expecting just what they needed to swing a close election.

Instead they got a tidal wave that has not only infuriated the Tea Party (who they need to “come home” in November but also appalled a heck of a lot of Conservative/GOP rank and file.

The only ones with smiles on their faces are the Dems. Particularly that MS Dem Committee Chair who, having orchestrated Cochrane’s winning margin is now egging on McDaniels to challenge it. They’ve created exactly the situation necessary to split the GOP and provide them with a Dem victory in November.

A Mississippi FR posted yesterday someone ahead of him in the voting line was turned away because he voted in the early Democrat primary.

Find that FReeper. Was the voter INFORMED that he’d already voted or did the voter ADMIT that he’d already voted?

We need to know if the database has a voted-primary-party record.

Sad, but not unexpected. Good luck in 2016 with the RNC’s RINO pick. Hillary? Yeah, could be.

‘The ONLY way you get that is if the Democrats activated their GOTV machine and directed people to go to the polls for Cochrane.’

Correct. Team Barbour PAID the Dems to get their people to the polls. They spent $ like they owned the printing presses. It worked. They got what they paid for.

If you stay at home you give 1/2 vote to the dirtiest of rats, Thad Cochran. -If you vote for anyone but the pro-life, pro-gun dem candidate, you are giving 1/2 vote to that dirty rat.

Giles, that is pure emotional hokum, imaginary, confusing INTENT with FUNCTION.

A vote has two mathematical values. It is binary. It is either 0, or 1.

Any other values you assign to it are pretend. When you act upon pretend foundations, you fail.

I’d add that the only way out of this for the GOP is to figure out a way (an honorable way, like undefined health or family issues) for Cochrane to drop out sometime by late August or early September and replace him with an acceptable Conservative. Maybe not McDaniels, but one of the solid Conservative sitting MS Congressmen ...

Likely Hinds county.....Jackson

This black bump came in Jackson and the largely black Mississippi Delta

It was a get out the vote effort replete with all the enticements and same apparatus the Dems use

That is the real story.

The Democrats helped.

They know in statewide races where the 62% white electorate votes 88-90% GOP that normally the GOP wins

Hence Democrats in Mississippi and nationwide assisted the Rove Barbour apparatus to defeat a conservative preferring to be stuck with Cochran whose ACU rating lately is lowest among GOP senate

GOPe will use democrat help directly to defeat us.

That is what makes this so monumental....McDaniel is being treated as third party by his own leaders who use the enemy’s money and machinery to stop the will of GOP voters

This is more than dirty tricks and why we should rebel

And with Childers being so old school culture war for a Democrat he could win

And it will be GOPe fault....not ours.

We are determined to expand our pro-jobs majority in Congres...

What will happen when the African-Americans who voted for Cochran find out that those jobs are going to go to illegal alien Hispanics before any of them get one?

I got news for you, Dalton. If you're waiting for the "right time" to drop party membership and make a change, you will be waiting forever because there will ALWAYS be some reason you can rationalize as "now isn't the time!!"

In any case, WE don't get to choose that time -- it will arrive whether we want it to or not, and it sure looks to me like that time has arrived. Referring to the 2016 presidential race, if the GOP nominates another moderate Republican, whether you or I like it or not, THAT WILL BE THE TIME to move on to a new SECOND party.

The establishment will never agree to a closed primary. They still think a “moderate” candidate is the way to go, eevn after the Romney loss.

A write in for McDaniel is 1/2 vote for Cochran. Vote 100% AGAINST Cochran by voting for the pro-life, pro-gun dem.

Common Core math graduate? Or New Math, Giles?

You assign mathematical functions and properties that are entirely in your imagination and emotion-based because you think in terms of intent AND fear instead of the actual value of a vote.

-- The ONLY way you get that is if the Democrats activated their GOTV machine and directed people to go to the polls for Cochrane. --

I would expect the GOP machine to ask the DEMs for exactly that. There is no surprise here. They didn't get played by the DEMs. They asked a favor, and got it.

-- Instead they got a tidal wave that has not only infuriated the Tea Party (who they need to "come home" in November but also appalled a heck of a lot of Conservative/GOP rank and file. --

It's not the size of the win that's infuriating. It's the disgust the GOP demonstrates toward conservative principles.
