If McDaniel has aspirations to run for the U.S. Senate again in six years, he would be better served by conceding graciously and focusing on improving his record in the state senate. Even before the campaign, he had the worst attendance record of any sitting state senator and of the 38 bills he has introduced, none have passed. He would not win in a write-in campaign. All it would do is siphon votes from Cochran and give Democrats a better chance of picking up the seat. Tea Party members and those who align with McDaniel may not care much for Cochran, but they should care about keeping the seat in Republican hands until they can groom McDaniel better or find another candidate they think can win in six years.
I agree.

Maybe he was just another weak, marginally-qualified candidate — in the mold of Sharon Angle, Ken Buck, Matt Bevin, Steve Stockman, Todd Akin, Christine O’Donnell, Joe Miller and Richard Mourdock?
It seems to me that if members of the tea party movement want to achieve anything of real substance in national politics — that is, something other than six-figure salaries for “leaders” like Jenny Beth Martin and Matt Kibbe — then they need to concentrate on the unglamorous, mundane job of finding high-quality candidates.
