When the trash would come into the dump, workers there would sort it into piles so those piles could be sold for profit. Recycling is some smart executive’s idea to get people to sort the trash at their house for free in order to reduce labor costs.

In many cases, recycling is counterproductive. It may also pollute more than just tossing stuff. Recyling is one more way to condition people to obey. But in any case it sure saves on trash bags, and the policy is easy. And we have lots of cardboard due to an outreach program.
