It's Almost like the Earth is connected or something.

That the Ocean doesn't cause a break between landmasses. It's just on top of it.

Well, I dunno. I was not into thinking about earthquakes until a mag 8 hit us last year. After that, I discovered the Philippine “Seismological Observation and Earthquake Prediction Division” on the internet. http://www.phivolcs.dost.gov.ph/ and the daily report: http://www.phivolcs.dost.gov.ph/html/update_SOEPD/EQLatest.html

There are quakes here EVERY day, but most are not noticeable.
The USGS also has an earthquake notification system:
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/
They will send to you an email when there is a significant quake.
Of course by the time they send it, it is too late.
