Russia's policy on Western technology is clear: The country can live without it, especially if key issues like economic sanctions, NSA spying and GPS cooperation aren't resolved to its leader's satisfaction. It looks like this tough stance extends to US-designed computer chips too, as a Russian business newspaper is reporting that state departments and state-run companies will no longer purchase PCs built around Intel or AMD processors. Instead, starting in 2015, the government will order up to one million devices annually based on the "Baikal" processor, which is manufactured by a domestic company called T-Platforms.

Retro gaming is huge. Partly nostalgia for us old dudes, partly younger types interested in the history. Some of the old games fetch big bucks. Lots of emulators out there to let them run on new hardware too.
I always had the idea that if I won a big lottery I would buy the rights to some of these really old games and hire people to update the graphics and re-release them.
lol
such a dream
Well when you win it, Get the rights to Xenogears for the Playstation 1 from Square.
I do not know who thought it would sell to the audience of the day but it is absolutely the deepest game with the most philosophical/ethical components I have ever played. And I am a pretty heavy gamer. It should have been targeted to adults capable of deep and complex thought, not teens.
Look it up on GameFAQs. Combines Christian themes, Neztchie (sp?), cyberpunk, intergalactic travel, bioethics, reincarnation, empire building and a million other ideas into a coherent whole.
And it’s 3 successors, the Xenosaga games re-imagine it on the PS2 and go 10 steps further still.
I have a PS 1 emulator on my Ubuntu laptop. Let me see if there is a site to download Xenogears (legal if you delete in a day)
Er-uh ... the Russians are not the French - the commies actually have something between their ears other than soft brie.
disc one is about 428 MB
I wonder how long this will take?
a little over 3 minutes...
Pack a lunch. It is gonna tale a LOT more than a day ;)
It is at least a 40 hour game if you speed run it knowing where to go and what to do when you start ;)
Word of warning. It is not the typical RPG/Video game. It is unique unto itself. but I promise it’s worth it.
Also check the Phantasy Star games for the Sega Master system and Genesis. Older still but great fun.
That link has so many false statements it’s hardly worth the watch. Right at the start the narrator says that’s Putin introducing his son to Reagan...Putin doesn’t have a son. So whoever put it together has their own agenda to push rather than report facts.
Licensed or bootlegged?

I was just watching the opening animation, wow. Looks like a really good story line there.
BTW, this game works on my Ubuntu Linux laptop with the PCSX emulator.
Russians: the only people in the world that make Celts look like teetotalers.

The story is what makes the game. It is incredible. And that opener does not even begin to get into what you are in for ;)
Could easily have been a major movie.
Here. Accept this gift. It is the song of my people ;)

Lots on interesting story background in the ‘Perfect Works” translation articles. You will see what I meant about ‘deep’.
BUMP
That probably would make a good animated film, or even life-action if they could do it justice.
How do you get all that into one game?
Sometimes its just a passing reference in a line of dialog but they got most of it in. some is just background there for the developers to build the story around when they wrote the game, but after playing it through many times, I saw a LOT of it ingame one way or another.
Like I said. It’s Deep.
And things are rarely what they appear to be. Just a hint ;)
Not in terms of ICs. and oh so many other tech things. The French by the way actually do produce a decent set ofICs
They are gonig into a linux based system. Not bad.
Probably still used as an embedded controller for something industrial hat doesn’t have a PC replacement.
