There’s going to be a massive housing shortage in this state. Who is going to build houses for rent with conditions like this?
Michigan just passed several laws imposing lots of penalties on “rental squatters”.

The federal government, that’s who. In Tampa a couple of investors gave the Obama campaign $400k. They got a government backed loan and bought 28,000 repossessed homes. The intent is to turn them into Section 8 housing.
Locally, somebody is building student housing, a huge complex, when the existing (private and public) housing is not fully rented. I found out from a developer the taxpayers have paid for all the roads and parking lots and the power and water connections. (Why? Especially when there are houses and apartments aplenty standing empty.)
I’m reminded of the photos of complete cities in China where nobody lives.
