How do you spell "sidesplitting chutzpah"? In New York's 22nd congressional district, it's spelled: R-I-C-H-A-R-D H-A-N-N-A. He's the liberal GOP incumbent trying to cling to public office by smearing the Marine mom, small-business owner, lawyer and conservative state assemblywoman poised to take his seat next week.
Claudia Tenney is as rock-solid of a Republican as they come: pro-life, pro-limited government, pro-Second Amendment, pro-entrepreneur, pro-American worker. As one of New York's top conservative legislators, Tenney has been unafraid to challenge the powers that be in both political parties. As an attorney, she has fought valiantly against cronyism and corruption. She has opposed the New York Democratic machine on everything from in-state tuition discounts for illegal aliens to taxpayer slush funds to dirty casino-government deals.
Tenney is the insurgent challenger in the June 24 primary to unseat Hanna, who is the third most liberal GOP member of the House. Hanna is also a member of the left-wing "Republican Main Street Partnership" the pro-bailout, pro-debt, pro-amnesty, anti-drilling group infested with lobbyists and fronted by Beltway barnacle turned Tea Party-bashing lobbyist Steve LaTourette.
Because no Democrat is running for the seat, the NY-22 primary is effectively a general race. It's a ripe electoral opportunity for the right. Tenney has grassroots support from New York tea party activists, the New York State Conservative Party, the New York State Right-to-Life Committee, former GOP Lt. Gov. Betsy McCaughey, as well as the New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms PAC and the conservative women's political action committee ShePAC.
Hanna, by contrast, has the backing of deep-pocketed D.C. special interests that have thrown nearly $1.5 million into the race. The "American Unity" super PAC, funded by billionaire gay marriage supporter Paul Singer, has kicked in more than a half-million dollars on gay marriage crusader Hanna's behalf...

If Hanna is a member of LaTourette’s Tea Party Hate Group, that’s reason enough to support his challenger.
You hear that, Karl Rove? We’re coming for YOU!
Amen, and Malkin isn’t holding back.
What are her prospects?
I only know about it from reading Malkin’s column, don’t know know about her chances.
Was hoping someone from the district or NY would post on it.
“Was hoping someone from the district or NY would post on it.”
I have spoken with Claudia Tenney—about three years ago when she was running for NY state office. She is a wonderful candidate and person. She stood against the NY Safe act that was an appalling assault on human rights (the 2nd amendment). The Gov was so proud of that law, he was looking to run for US Pres after he rammed it through. Upstate NY’ers have been fighting that law ever since. Claudia opposed the law and held a town meeting on the law. She has a lot of support from the regular citizens of the district.
One of Hanna’s first statements after his election was to insult conservative voters.
She would be a great candidate in any state. In another state, she would be getting a lot of attention. It is interesting that so much money is being spent by the GOPe to defeat her—it means that, even in NY state, she is a serious contender for the seat. She is a great candidate.
Thank you so much, iacovatx!!
I suspected as much from Malkin’s article, it’s good to hear it from you as someone who’s had personal contact and knowledge of her views.
I assume Claudia Tenney has the Conservative Party line.
If she wins, she’s effectively elected. If Hanna wins, they meet again in November.
There are a lot of Hanna-supporting ads running on upstate NY radio at present. They attack Tenney for not being conservative and praise Hanna for being conservative—they are specifically intended to fool voters. They are pure attack ads and nasty. The real Hanna is no conservative and specifically insulted them in his first statements after election. He is no friend of the citizens of NY or the US.
I don’t know if Claudia Tenney is also on the Conservative Party Line. These additional party afilliations are characteristics of the NYS system and I don’t know how useful they are to the candidates. I found it interesting that Dems are often also on the Working Family Party line—a far left Socialist line. Certainly, Hanna has no legitimate conservative identity but how these associations are gained is not familiar to me. Thanks for the post.
“I assume Claudia Tenney has the Conservative Party line.”
Tenney has an outstanding rating from the NY Conservative Party - 96%. And she has high conservative ratings from many groups, as much as 100%.
“..The real Hanna is no conservative ..”
In fact, Hanna has been rated No. 3 most liberal Republican, I think by National Journal. Hanna is for late-term abortion, and he said women should donate to the Dem Party.
The ads against Tenney are blatant lies, and I hope voters in her district don’t believe them.
How is someone like that even allowed in the GOP?
“.. She stood against the NY Safe act that was an appalling assault on human rights (the 2nd amendment). “
Yes, she fought hard against Cuomo’s anti-2nd amendment law.
“..money is being spent by the GOPe to defeat her “
That is disgusting. No wonder more, and more, conservatives are giving directly to conservative candidates, rather than the GOP.
no Scozzafava for them to run?
“How is someone like that even allowed in the GOP?”
The people voted wisely when they elected her, and I hope they vote wisely again, and vote for Claudia Tenney in the primaries this Tuesday.
Liberal pacs have $millions with lying attack ads against her, claiming she is not a conservative, when she has been rated Top Conservative in NY. I just hope voters don’t believe the lies.
I think what will help her is that she was on Sean Hannity’s radio show on Friday, telling her side of the story, and I’m sure that will help her tremendously. Hope folks in her district heard that interview, and read Malkin’s column.
good
The reason, imo, that libs are spending $millions and desperately lying about Claudia Tenney, is because a strong conservative winning in LIBERAL NY would demoralize libDems across the nation!
Rick Santorum contacted 50,000 homes in NY to support Claudia Tenney!
This morning I heard Claudia Tenney interviewed by Laura Ingraham. Then around 15 minutes later, I heard her interviewed by NY Post Columnist Fred Dicker. Of course, there must be countless interviews that I can’t get on the radio. She’s an energetic lady.
