While I like the Kathy family and what they stand for in their business practices, Chick-Fil-As are franchises.

This decision was likely done by the local franchisee. I bet he had support from the corporation, though.

The corp website and wiki say their retail locations are 100% company owned.

Can you provide a link about the franchises?

I’ve looked into getting one and was told their business model is different.

What I gather is that the corporate culture permeates.

Several years ago I met and spoke with one of Chick-fil- A's franchisees. He told me that he had purchased his franchise for $5000. Most franchises are closer to $500,000 +. He said that Chick fil A had a franchisee plan to help people, like him, become owners.

The requirements were a college degree, Chick-fil-A experience, community service, and good references from teachers, churches, neighbors. He said Chick-fil-A was wonderful to him and his family and would be forever grateful.

The Dwarf House is the original store... likely owned by corporate or the family.
