By default. I agree with you, but the author makes out like there are 3 separate choices, whereas there are only 2. The next decision is how you will communicate your choice.

I agree. When God says do A, and the State says do B, there are only two real choices.

For those who claim to be servants of God, I fail to see how there is really more than one choice, particularly in the present system whereby the punishment for disobedience by the State is not death by torture.

It might possibly include imprisonment, but more likely would be limited to fines or even just social obloquy. For people who claim to be willing to follow Christ even unto death to flinch and turn away when faced with fines or unpopularity would do a pretty thorough job of destroying their pretensions.
