---snip--- Further, emails are universally backed up in some other medium, often electronic tape, for long-term storage. Thus, even if an email server is destroyed, or all emails are deleted from a server after a specified length of time, the emails are still recoverable from back-up storage media. The DOJ lawyer whom Scott quoted this morning was correct about this. The IRS, like virtually every other business or government entity, uses such a system. The Agencys manual on Managing Electronic Records has been made public; you can read it here. A few relevant excerpts:

Seems to me this is more of a “f*** you” to Congress. Executive branch is out of control and what do they care at this point?
I shouldn’t comment ... I’ll grow angry. No wasting of the lies, do they?
Impossible. hillary has records on everyone. Elect her and she may produce them, like the Rose law firm billing records
Wouldn’t the NSA have them?
Obama and his administration are computer science deniers.

...[M]oments ago, representative Steve Stockman (R-Texas) announced he would request that the National Security Agency help in the hunt for missing emails to and from the IRSs Lois Lerner, and recover two years worth of "lost" emails.
[....] And now the NSA is caught between a rock and a hard place: because if it refuses an official congressional demand, it shows once again that the spy agency is entirely separated from any concept of checks and balances and accountability; if it complies, it confirms that all the NSA is, considering it can't even tap into a bunch of Al Qaeda phones and figure out what the jihadists' strategy is in Iraq, is just a massive data repository of all US electronic information, to be abused at will by corrupt, criminal government workers, some of whom will likely have to resort to the "dog ate my emails" excuse in the immediate future
From down thread today
Youd think they would’ve run this idea by someone in the IT Dept to find out if it was really a feasible claim to make...
I bet that Eric Snowden could find those emails in five minutes, if somebody wanted to smuggle him into the states as a favor.
So, if the IRS’ computers are this vulnerable, unreliable, and prone to fail, NO ONE SHOULD PAY TAXES OR RELEASE ANY INFORMATION TO THE IRS until such time that these emails are produced, and multiple people are prosecuted and jailed. I want pensions revoked, property seized, and a perp walk down the line of chain of command until someone coughs it all up.
That’s what they said about Ollie North.
Just a day or two ago there was an article about the NSA having refused a request by a litigant who wanted to use NSA captured data in a lawsuit to prove something. I wonder if that was setting the stage to refuse this request.
So the challenge is what will it take to force the release of those emails and who or what organization has the power and will to compel the Regime to obey law and regulation? Anyone?
Liberals seem to not only lack competence, but also not to know they lack competence. So, you have Hillary who apparently Googles her own translation of the Russian word for “reset.” You have Michelle who launches a school lunch program with no knowledge of food or kid’s preferences. Now you have somebody who knows nothing about IT coming up with a reason not to provide Learner’s emails. I am so thankful that none of these people are competent. They don’t have a Goebbels or a Rommel. If they did we’d be in trouble.
I know many IT managers that would have OKed the explanation.
IRS Commissioner previously testified they had and reviewed Lerner’s emails:

Really? The explanation doesn’t stand up to minimal scrutiny on so many levels from an IT POV.
An independent government prosecutor should elicit the location of the emails from the IRS miscreants by extended waterboarding. Either way, America comes out ahead.
