You can carry a loaded weapon concealed on your person? You get pulled over in Nassau, Suffolk or the 5 Boros you can calmly tell the cop you’re carrying and no worries? What restrictions or rules apply to your NYS CCW?
I’d like to buy a gun but as far as I know I can’t until a permit comes (in 6 or 8 months and after my friends and neighbors are interviewed) and then I can only carry going to or from some activity involving use of the gun.

Nope. Never venture down that way. I’m talking NY State, not NY Sh!tty. Whole different set of rules down there.

The only restrictions are you cannot CC in govt. buildings, bars or where liquor/beer is sold, Pizza Hut, Shopping Malls with posted “No Guns” etc. Otherwise, I can carry anywhere I want (except the boroughs).
Some counties will take longer to get a permit, but it took Mrs. panax & I six weeks after applying and completing a 4 hour safety class to receive the permits in the mail. If I remember correctly it cost us $110 each & another $10 for fingerprints/photo/paperwork.
Upstate NY is very different than downstate in nearly every way. So many good folks confuse NYS with NYC. I have to admit that we thought the same thing 25 years ago when we moved here. We soon found out we were wrong.
