Bob Smith is a flake and a joke. Enviro nutbag too. When he endorsed Kerry out of spite because Bush backed Sununu in his 2002 primary, that was the last straw. Also, he’d get his butt kicked in the general election.
I thought running Brown for this was a bad idea for several reasons, not least of which is that he’s not very conservative and is a recent carpetbagger. Contrary to what he thinks he’d actually have a better chance of winning in MA, at least I think so, he polled well against Markey.
But Bob Smith, no sirry. And the other candidates are even worse, like perennial candidate and weirdo Andy Martin from Illinois.
Brown’s only opponent who isn’t a total joke is former State Senator Jim Rubens, I know little about him. He last held office in the 90’s, he lost the GOP primary for Governor in 1998 (to a some schmuck who got DESTROYED by Jeanne Shaheen for some reason) and then lost a State Senate comeback bid in 2000.
This goes to Brown by default. NH GOP’s cupboard is bare so they imported him. I’d like to think they could do better but he gives us a not stellar but decent shot at replacing a Marxist witch with a 55%-60% conservative, I’ll take it.
Yesterday happened to be the final day to file for the primaries in NH which will be on September 9, 2014. According to the NH SoS website, 10 people have filed to run for the US Senate in the Republican primary.
United States Senator
Gerard Beloin
Scott P. Brown
Robert D’Arcy
Miro Dziedzic
Mark W. Farnham
Bob Heghmann
Walter W. Kelly
Andy Martin
Jim Rubens
Bob Smith
I think this would bode well for Scott Brown who has the most name recognition. Looking over from Maine, I have never heard of any of the others beside Bob Smith who as mentioned above has not done himself any favors since losing 12 years ago. If they are all in until Sept 9, you are going to have a South Carolina scenario without the runoff threshold.
Scott Brown voted 55% conservative while representing MA; I predict that he’ll vote 70% conservative representing NH, since he won’t have to curry favor with liberals quite as much. Not as good a Ayotte, but unfortunately NH doesn’t have an Ayotte running this year.
Ayotte voted for amnesty and seems at times to be in the McCain Graham corner. But that being said there probably isn’t anything better you will get from New Hampshire now.

Yes. Agreed.
Can you pease point to which Amnesty bill Kelly Ayotte voted for? I don’t recall any bill being debated and passed yet.
She voted for the Senate version which passed with about 11 gop traitors. McCain and Graham were behind it. It happend last year.
Just a month or so ago she was telling House Republicans to pass amnesty.
Even John Hoeven and Bob Corker are not that interested in it.
