Everyone I know who carries a weapon, carries it to church. Its something you don’t even think about...kind of like wearing socks.

In some states, churches are gun free zones by statute, whether or not they post a "no guns permitted" sign. I incorrectly assumed that was the case in Arizona.

I did a quick check on Arizona's gun laws and it appears that while guns are automatically prohibited in schools and certain other locations (e.g. power plants, polling places and correctional facilities) with or without a posted sign, a sign is required for churches.

So unless the church was also the site of a school (or a power plant, polling location or correctional facility) then it was not a gun free zone without a "no guns permitted" sign.

Of course, this is based on 5 minutes of research on the Internet, but everything you find on the Internet is true and reliable right? At least, that is what I read once on the Internet.
