Elements of the February 17 Martyrs Brigade, the Libyan militia hired by the U.S. State Department to station members as residents inside the U.S. compound in Benghazi and to protect the U.S. diplomats there, were complicit in the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attack that killed Amb. Chris Stevens and three other Americans, according to the testimony of Greg Hicks, who was the department's second-ranking diplomat in Libya at the time of the attack.

To give a small correction - it was not just a gaming forum, I think. It was also the SomethingAwful forums, where he were a moderator. He also may have sent a note to his guild mates in one of the online MMORPGs. My memory wants to say Eve Online, but not sure.
Nice guy, very even tempered and good to talk to. Temp banned me twice (language and aggression, can get a bit nasty when arguing!) but took the time to talk to me about why. The entire community was gutted when they got the word.
Weren’t you or this a part of a NATO operation???
Somebody with just a little knowledge of the Muzzies must be very, VERY naïve to hire them to protect American “facilities’ especially CIA. Or they are purposely enabling an attack. There should have been NOTHING but heavy armed U.S. Marines as protecting Guards!!! Didn’t Amb. (also an enabler) Stevens asked for more protection, and especially on anniversary of 9/11???
It was a NATO operation. The USAF and Navy and, later, Marine aircraft operated from Aviano, Italy.
bump
Has Libya ever attacked a NATO country. Then which and when??????
Yes.
US at a German nightclub. Lockerbie Scotland. And all those NATO member nation citizens aboard.
And Wheelus Airbase.
Thank you for your service!
Now I think all these instances you describe were dealt with approximately 28 years ago and later, in one way or another, including your AFB in Libya a country NOT member of NATO???
So if that argument is/was a part of your “LEGAL”(???) operation, then we need to go back and bomb the hell out of Germany & Italy TODAY!!!
Does anyone know when Gowdy gets rolling on the hearing? The waiting is killing me...
February 17 militia members had stopped accompanying Special Mission vehicle movements in protest over salary and working hours, said the ARB report...What? SEIU is already embedded there?
I certainly question the legality of the operation.
But, we were tasked with the mission and got it done.
The administration was tasked with ensuring Libya would be a peaceful place following the operation.
We know how that turned out.
Lt.Col. (Patriot) Lakin also questioned the legality of the person giving your orders was court martialed, while the military just yawned!
What you “got done” under the guise of NATO, a defense organization, NOT attacking, is very, VERY questionable and “foggy”!!
The Administration had its OWN agenda, not being tasked. So unfortunately you may have been participating in an illegal operation swept under the rug. Lt.Col. Lakin did NOT agree with an illegal, undocumented alien and an unqualified C-I-C and took his stand which he had taken an OATH/Constitution to defend!!!
GW had neutered Libya to such an extent that it gave up the weapons of mass destruction program surrendering even the secret nuclear research program Saddam had been running. None of our intelligence agencies were aware of that program.
If we had a media with a slight regard for the truth there are Pulitzer Prizes in this story.
Attacking Libya was the height of stupidity but the military obeyed orders and accomplished the intention of the mission. Having lunatics like this control the military is terrifying.
