Not daily in the military?
It is one of our armed services.
Same rules, pay scale, etc.
Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, AND Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard lost a man in combat in the Civil war, 574 in WWII, 7 during the Vietnam War, and one since then.
Seriously,. why does its chain of command run up through DHS (unless in war).
Why is it placed under the Navy during wartime and not a stand-alone independent service?
How does that work?
