Lamar Alexander, Thad Cochran Brace for Falls After Cantor Crumbles

Titans of the Washington GOP establishment are bracing for more potential defeats after grassroots-fueled conservative economics professor Dave Brat crushed House Majority Leader Eric Cantor by double digits on Tuesday. The top two GOP establishment icons grassroots conservatives are targeting next are Sens. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee and Thad Cochran of Mississippi.

Brat’s campaign against Cantor laser-focused on the majority leader’s support for comprehensive immigration reform, and how amnesty would economically hurt American workers. Brat ran on the message of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), an immigration hawk who’s argued against amnesty and an increase in legal immigration based on the economic effect it would have on struggling American families.

That same issue—immigration—is shaping up as a backbone of the coming Tennessee Senate primary, and has played out in Mississippi too.

Tennessee State Rep. Joe Carr—Alexander’s conservative primary challenger, who is within striking distance of the under-50-percent Alexander—on Tuesday night congratulated Brat, and said he’s coming for Alexander in that state’s August primary. “What we have seen tonight in Virginia shows that no race should be taken for granted and all the money and position in the world doesn't resonate with an electorate that is fed up with a Washington establishment that has abandoned conservative principles,” Carr said.

Carr added praise for last week’s Mississippi grassroots upset against the establishment. A week ago in Mississippi’s GOP primary, state Sen. Chris McDaniel beat Cochran in the popular vote forcing a runoff, which will occur two weeks from today.

“From Virginia to Mississippi, a transformational change is underway that is being led by a true grassroots movement,” Carr said.

Yep. Gotta clean up the GOP in conservative states before we can hope to get actual conservatives in the moderate ones.

Tennessee is right between Virginia and Mississippi. No reason we can’t elect a more conservative senator than the two current ones.

Birds of a feather indeed! In more ways than one!

What's the Tea Party?                                                                What's the Tea Party?

Good to see this article at Breitbart and from Matthew Boyle who at times seems to have been corralled by the gOpE.

Carr, for some reason, seems content not to attack Alexander on a state level. He’s virtually silent. He runs no ads, no tv, no radio, and no public appearances. Most Tennesseans don’t have a clue who the man is, he want get out of his office.

He needs to start the fight soon...,time is running out...!

Yep…indeed. Cochran has just totally sold his soul to the devil (who looks a lot like a cross between Rove and fat Haley btw)

Carr has been at local Tea Party meetings across the state at least 3-4 times a week since December.

Huh. Two months until the primary, I see. Maybe yesterday’s victory will inspire more national tea party help for managing his campaign. I see that Brat won with a 23yo campaign manager. Surely they could give some advice to Carr on crafting a David and Goliath strategy.

Just saying....most don’t know who he is or what he is running for....! He needs to attack....NOW....! Alexander can be beaten.

Attending Tea Party events are a good thing but what good is it if the majority of voters don’t have a clue who he is.

Carr hasn’t forced Alexander to spend one dime to defend his leftist policies.

Too bad for them that the dems aren't sharing their voting machine tampering techniques. If these RINOs would run as RATS they would have all kinds of resources at their beck and call. Chad punchers, phony protesters, the media...

Evidently he’s being managed by Karl Rove or one of his minions because the silence from the Carr camp is deafening. The primary election is just around the corner and Carr sits silently by doing NOTHING.
