First of all, Bill was not born into poverty. His stepfather owned a Chevy Dealership. I grew up in Arkansas. The owner of the Chevy Dealership was one of the more well off people in town.

Second, he never had a job in his life.

Third, what did they do with all that money she made on her first book that she was allowed to sell just before being sworn in as senator?

You’re ruining the charade with facts.

I will say the Clintons have to be two of the biggest liars in American history.

kingattax, they deducted Bill’s used underwear because they made so much money off of Hillary’s profit from her cattle futures sales. Plus all the money she made from being a partner in a law firm because her husband was governor.

rdcbn, Hillary and Bill had to spend all of their life savings rebuilding all those black churches that burned in Arkansas./s

I am guessing somebody else thought of this earlier, but:

So an honorable man who loves America is bad because he’s rich, but Hillary, a dishonorable woman who doesn’t like America, is good because she’s rich.

I love all the speculation as to whether she’ll run or not. Are the journolistas that dumb as to not recognize a presidential run when they see one?

Bill was president for EIGHT years after he was governor of Arkansas. He got $200,000 a year salary as president, had NO housing, utilities or food costs, Hillary's clothes were given to her by designers wanting exposure, ALL their vacations were first class and cost them nothing and that's not even counting all the “donations” that came their way that nobody even knows about but them. Seems to me that they had plenty of opportunities to benefit financially and they did. Why then, did they have to steal White House furniture, dishes and other furnishings? Why did they buy a multimillion dollar house in New York when they left? I get awfully tired of “poor mouthing” from people who clearly have much more than normal folks.

what she meant when she complained of her family’s financial struggles after leaving the White House.

As I recall there was a minor scandal about items missing from the White House when the Clinton vacated.

This would explain why they may have taken the silverware on their way out the door.

Student loans?

I'm not sure when the student loan programs began, but I thought it was in the mid to late 70's. Even still, both Clintons graduated from Yale in the early 70's, twenty years before Bill went to the White House. And, of course, once they were there, he earned $200,000 per year for eight years, and had no expenses or overhead. If they truly had student loans in 2001, then they were as surely as poor managers of their own money as they were with ours.

But, I doubt that any reporter will even dig into it.

With Hillary’s vaunted expertise in trading financial futures, I’m shocked that the Clintons were in dire economic straits.

We had no money when we got there,

The New York Times back then reported their assets being put in a blind trust from between .6 to 1.2 million. That is not broke to most people especially in 1993.

As usual for the Clintons, you have to parse their quibbling. We "had no money" means it wasn't in their wallets or hidden under the mattress at that time..

...We have a life experience clearly different in very dramatic ways from every American...

Yeah, I don't know anyone personally who managed to snag a Senatorial gig in a state she never lived in. Or anyone my age who still has student loans from the 70's.

Absolutely, I’m surprised at how many people don’t understand this simple financial strategy. When you owe a fortune spend your deficit! The federal government does it all the time. Here’s a little toe tappin’ ditty to explain how it works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6TcpfBHlbs

In every small town I ever visited in the South had a Chevy dealership that also sold Buicks and Olds and GMCs and Pontiacs. I don’t ever remember a stand alone Buick dealer. Either way, his daddy wasn’t poor.

“Yes I can, but everything in life has to be put into context,” she said, The Hill reported. “As I recall, we were something like $12 million in debt.”

“Mrs. Clinton then recalled how her husband, former President Bill Clinton, had been born into poverty...”

Guffaw. Chuckle. Barf.

How much money did she and Bill get for stealing the White House silverware and dishes?

Also, what happened to all that Mob money from LIUNA that when to them and the DSCC in the mid-1990’s?
