Access Health CT to make changes after security breach

The state’s Obamacare health insurance exchange is apologizing Monday and is quickly trying to make things right after a security breach.

In this age of high tech security breaches, this one was decidedly low tech. A backpack was found at a deli in downtown Hartford containing hand-written notepads with names addresses and some social security numbers and letterhead from ‘Access Health CT.’

The person that found it did not call the police. They gave it to a Republican State Rep who turned it in to the Obamacare headquarters.

“Access Health CT” says the notepads and backpack belong to a call-center employee. Call center employees actually work for a company called; “Maximus,” the vendor that provides the call center services to “Access Health CT.”

“The number of physical individuals after this analysis was conducted that were actually included on these pads is 413 and there were 151 social security numbers,” said Jason Madrak, Access Health CT.

Those whose names are on the notepads are going to get a certified letter and a follow up phone call and provided with free credit card monitoring Fraud resolution service and ID theft insurance.

“The bottom line is that one of our team members made a mistake, violated our corporate policy and procedure for handling personal data,” said Ilene Baylinson, Maximus.

And Baylinson says that employee has been placed on administrative leave is remorseful and fully cooperative.

They do not believe there was any illegal intent. “Access Health CT”‘ says another big change in their call-in center, they are banning paper notebooks.

What a great big steaming pile of BOLSHEVIK! The employee'S only mistake was forgetting it at the Deli, the only reason to put that info in a backpack and remove it from the premises was to do something further illegal with it. And if you can't see that, well you would have to be a demonrat.

It was bad enough in Britain and Canada before the age of the internet and government computers. Now, in the USA its going to be a galactic disaster. Just what Obama (Cloward-Piven) wants.

How log did it take said employee to write down 400-600 callers information on a note pad? Had to have taken days, if not weeks.

It is also poor security practices by the company.

At a truly secure call center, employees enter the work area without any pencils, pens, paper, or electronic devices. They use a secured, locked-down computer to transact business where every transaction is completely logged. The only thing they could do is try to memorize a few SSNs.

Way more time than they spent vetting him/her prior to employment. But then I sometimes think O'care administrators wanted to have information stolen from the get go.

Again I think the security of American's personal information was the last thing on the O'Care administrators minds.

And Baylinson says that employee has been placed on administrative leave...

Hey Joe! Get in here so I can slap the back of your hand. SLAP! Now, let that be a lesson to you. Be remorseful and get back to work. /sarc

Administrative leave? You've got to be kidding me! That employee should be publicly named and fired.
