Imho, this is much like the bank robbery gone bad, where the person who drove the getaway car is considered to be as culpable as the person who shot the bank guard.

IMO, I doubt it. The engine failure combined with a crash landing in the water was probably enough to practically scare her to death. People die from heart attacks during earthquakes and tornadoes even thought they were not physically hurt by either.
