Thank you for referencing the ill-conceived 17th Amendment, even if you didn't do so by name.
As indicated by the Constitution's Clause 6 of Section 3 of Article I, it takes 2/3 of the Senate to impeach, not sure sure about actual removal if that is the judgement. So patriots and former Obama supporters need to exercise their voting muscle in the 2014 elections to get 2/3 conservative majority control of Senate, both Democratic & Republican conservatives, in order to give lawless Obama what he deserves. Patriots should have started this project in 2010.
Just a pet peeve of mine: the Senate cannot impeach. Impeachment refers to the bringing of charges, not removal from office. The House of Representatives is the body that can impeach, by a 2/3 vote. The Senate conducts the trial and votes to remove the impeached officer. Presidents Johnson and Clinton were both impeached, although neither was removed from office.
Possibly a nit.
It takes a simple majority of the House to impeach.
The Senate tries the impeachment, and it requires 2/3 to convict there.
What exactly is the incentive of a “conservative” Democratic senator to vote for conviction, assuming such a creature exists or will exist after the election?
Even in conservative states, the Democratic primaries are dominated by pretty liberal constituencies. So any Democratic candidate that makes it to the general election is pretty much by definition at least fairly liberal.
how about the fourteenth amendment section 3?
perhaps a lawsuit on the grounds they are violating their oath and the constitution...
