So then, in your opinion, for what other crimes should the child of the criminal be put to death? I agree with your premise. What I have trouble with is that rape is not considered a capital offense. In the cases of prepubescent child rape, it can inflict a lifetime of emotional torture on the victim.
I agree completely that rape (especially of young children) should be a capital crime; however, the supreme court ruled in 1977 (Coker v. Georgia) that the death penalty for rape if the victim isn't killed.
And you are right, I've talked to rape victims who carry the scars for a lifetime.
