Sadly, its hard for many of the champions of children to recognize a humanitarian crisis when it happens this close to home.
Oh they recognize it. They just didn't expect to be forced to deal with it or blame their messiah for intentionally doing it to them.

It’s easy to do when it happens 12,000 miles from home. You can make accusations and show what a great humanitarian you are.
500 miles from home, not so much. Here we get to witness your anti-Americanism first hand and that will kill your careers.
