Exactly!
I've had children in my 20's, 30's, and 40's, and will love how ever many more the Lord gives me, but I can't make up for the fact that my children have no first cousins on my side of the family.
I can't make up for the fact that my mother had 11 siblings and around 40 nieces and nephews, but many of my aunts and uncles had one or two kids.
I can't help the fact that most of my cousins had one or no children.
Every generation has been smaller than the last, even though some of us are doing our best to fulfill our roles as parents and servants of God.
Me, too! My brother doesn't have any children. My parents were from small families, too; big families were in my grandparents' generation.
It's just the way things are now, and for all the blaming of immigrants, the trend is the same for them. Two or three children are the norm, except for the minority who have both good health and intense religious conviction.
