Skeletons of second world war soldiers are being washed from their graves by the rising Pacific Ocean as global warming leads to inundation of islands that saw some of the fiercest fighting of the conflict.
On the day Europe commemorated the 70th anniversary of the storming of Normandy beaches in the D-Day landings, a minister from the Marshall Islands, a remote archipelago between Hawaii and the Philippines, told how the remains of 26, probably Japanese soldiers, had been recovered so far on the isle of Santo.
"There are coffins and dead people being washed away from graves; it's that serious," said Tony de Brum, the minister of foreign affairs for the Marshall Islands.
Tides "have caused not just inundation and flooding of communities where people live but have also done severe damage in undermining regular land so that even the dead are affected".

Should’t that be Western foorely?
No worries. All they need to do is buy some indulgences from Al Gore and they will be absolved from their sins against the Mother Earth Church.
That's a valid theory in some cases but you are all the other posters have missed the obvious simple explanation which is recent neutral / La Nina piling up water in the western Pacific where those islands are:

Funny, I live on a beach and the water is where it was 50 years ago. Guess the water just gets higher on their side if the pitcher.
It is a much more complicated story than the island being washed away, he said.
What the people are seeing is real there are graves and houses falling into the water but often it is a result of engineering and sea walls being built inappropriately. Some parts of some islands are eroding as sand has moved around but some islands are growing in size.
A newly-published study showed a southern atoll which was devastated by a 1905 typhoon has grown back to a stable state, with its vegetated area expanding by about a quarter since 1945; other smaller islands joined together to form a single landmass.
Is there going to be a pop quiz on this?
Japs? The Japs were not in the war.m nope, those are not Japs. I don’t know what you are talking about. The japs are peaceful people who would never do anything wrong.

The Japanese shipped coffins to tiny Pacific Islands to bury soldiers? Sounds like BS.
uh oh
when forced to give a date or event to declassify certain reports (which they thought should never be declassifed) some inventive clerks would stamp
“Declassify When: the Sea Shall Give Up Her Dead”
and they thought it wouldn’t happen!
The rising of the seas is also affecting islands in the lakes in Upstate New York, e.g., Canandaigua at 688 feet above sea level Squaw Island; Lake George Prisoner Island at 322 feet above sea level.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?
Water levels out, so if there were rising levels, the whole world would be noticing.
Sadly, there are tens of millions of low info people who will believe this news blurb.
Thank you for the alert because we would never know when to bury our heads other wise ;)
I see what you did there. LOL!
Hmmm. China wouldn’t have a vested interest in keeping this Global Warming BS alive, would it? Nahhhh.
That is for sure. The thing is that land rises in some areas and falls in others so it isn’t necessarily sea level that is changing. The article I linked has an excellent explanation of how sea level is measured and how difficult it is to be precise. It isn’t terribly long or technical though.
Yes, a surprise pop quiz. You won’t know when it’s coming! ;^)
The other causes are not climate change, so the claim that graves washing away are a result of global warming is nonsense (which was your point).
Absolutely!
