He had the pepper spray since he was part of a student security patrol. By the local account I first heard he was SUPPOSED to be there. He was having trouble holding the dirtbag down by himself but a couple other nearby students pitched in for the “pin”. AAAAAnnnddd while they had him down a nuclear wedgie would have been appropriate, at least.
LOL Use the backside for a blindfold while he was still wearing them, works for me!
My son goes to SPU so have been watching the local news. The hero, Jon Meis was described as “gentle, strong and prepared” by those that know him. One of his roomates said that he was almost timid - but could also get very intense.
Another student said of his job as building monitor (or whatever the term is) was mainly to make sure the doors were locked at night. Another kid said he would walk by him sitting behind the desk at the front door and think “Man, what an easy job!”
He is set to be married two weeks from tomorrow!
Someone found his gift registry and posted it, with people buying presents for him! (His Crate & Barrel list had one item left!).

Rest in Peace to Paul Lee, freshman student that died at the hands of the nutball gunman (who had twice been put into mental evaluation/care).
They say the nutball gunman had a shotgun and a knife. The photo from inside the building shows what seems to me to be a revolver laying on the floor. Maybe a hunting knife case - but then I would think it would be laying flat. Instead it looks like it is leaning due to resting on the cylinder. (Combined with the early reports of two shooters.... Which seems to happen ALL the time.)
To avoid sounding like a nutball conspiracy guy (which I am to a degree!), perhaps it is due to conflicting accounts of the description of the same person.
“The guy ran that way and he had a shotgun!”
Two minutes later someone says, pointing in a different direction; “He ran that way and had a knife! His hair color!? I don't know - all I saw was the BIG knife...”
