Indeed.
I remember a lot, too...Our evenings were spent gathered around the radio listening to the news..We kids had to do home work during school, of course, but I recall the broadcasters names and voices still.

We had lots of air raid drills because we were very close to the Watertown (MA) Arsenal,which operated 24 hours a day.It’s windows had all been painted black.

I still remember the warden for our street making sure no light shone through when the sirens were blaring.

Almost seems like yesterday.
