Also, the impact scenario requires that about 50 percent of the original lunar material comes from the impactor -- and since there's a supposed match with (for example) oxygen isotopes of Earth rocks and Moon rocks, either the surface was disproportionately made up of Earth material, or the impactor had a similar ratio. And if the latter is the case, there *is* no evidence for impact. Ta dah! I'd link to the old topic about this question, but it's past my bedtime.

We have a sample of maybe 100lbs out of 7.35e22 kg of moon stuff. Pretty hard to say anything definitive about a sample as minuscule as that.
