Controversy over the prisoner exchange for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl and over allegations he abandoned his Afghanistan post has brought blowback on businesses in Hailey, Bergdahls hometown.
The Hailey Chamber of Commerce has received hundreds of phone calls from people angry that the community had planned a June 28 Bowe is Back celebration for a possible deserter, Chamber Membership Director Kristy Heitzman said. The Chamber wasnt organizing or sponsoring Bowe is Back but promoted the event on its Facebook page, she said.
Organizers cancelled the event midday Wednesday.
Some of the angry callers are veterans, Heitzman said. One angry caller said he was a trucker saying he would make sure to stop in Hailey to dump off his trash, she said.
They say were kind of a disgrace, or what a shame it is to have a celebration for a traitor, Heitzman said. They say they had planned on coming to the area to go fishing or camping, but now they wont be coming to Idaho.

They won’t be able to hide him in the US. This wound is too deep and the pain is acute to the point of distraction. He will probably never see the light of day in the US again...
Wow.....what was the date on the original release of that one? The one thing you have to say for the libs is that they are consistent.
If he deserted in a battle zone, there is but one punishment.
Execution.
In the 80's, after Reagan (almost) conquered all.
And Breathed was never like Garry Trudeau. His stuff was funny and hit libs harder than anyone else at the time.
Here's another from 1988.
I remember seeing the original publication. I want to say that it was early in Reagan’s first term.
Exactly.
It is possible that he will refuse to denounce his “friends” back in Afghanistan. That will be telling.
And a two foot long ratted beard. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
I was a big Bloom County fan back in the 80’s. I even had an Opus Penguin Lust T shirt. Breathed hit conservatives and liberals alike. He was like a comic version of South Park, just 10 years earlier.
I’ve still got my “Billie and the Boingers” t-shirt. Wonder if that’s worth anything now....
Ed................i may not have the quotes exactly right so sue me or call me a democrate /:(
