Is it more possible that things really played out this way, leading to his release, or is it more possible that elements in our military and government collaborated on withholding the desertion reports to cause irreparable damage to the WH and RATs?

SOMEONE wanted this to be a scandal. Someone who has influence over the media because the media was all over this. They didn't ignore it like they do every other Obama scandal. If this was going to be true to form it would have been nothing but a conspiracy theory among all those right wing nuts. Heck, it's doubtful they would have even reported the 5 gitmo terrorists released.

There's no way for Obama to distance himself...he took full credit and plastered his face all over it. This is almost, almost, a military coup. No military people kept their mouths shut.

IMHO, several tipping points put the media kibosh to Obama:

(1) finding out Obama gave ntl security clearance to his van driver.

Tommy Vietor, Obamba's van driver, got national
security clearance, and attended WH Situation Room
meetings; Dude Tommy is now working for Hillary.

(2) The imbecile at the State Dept--openly mocked by reporters
for her dumbness--couldn't name a single foreign policy success.

"Jeepers, it's hard to think up stuff when you're having a bad hair day."

(3) Suspicions about Valerie Jarrett's role in Obama’s inner circle. The former Chicago lawyer and businesswoman has been a top adviser to the president since his election in 2008.

Jarrett's official WH title is "Senior Deputy Advisor" (in Chicagon gangland parlance that means "wire transfer artist") Michele Obama was hired by Jarrett---then an official in the corrupt Daley Admin.

===============================================

Laura Ingraham insightfully said that “all roads lead to Valerie Jarrett," noting Jarrett's involvement in secret dealings w/Iran (where Jarrett was born and raised). She has her tentacles into every issue and every topic..... at least part of her role is to serve as “chief liaison to the business community, state and local governments, and the professional left,” but her influence is undeniable.

Jarrett commands a staff of nearly three dozen, and has a hand in decisions ranging from invitation lists to state dinners and gifts to foreign leaders, to USSC nominees, ambassador appointees, President Medal of Freedom awardees.

When Warren Buffett visits to the White House for lunch, the table is set for three.

============================================

Here's Jarrett (in pink) at the BP extortion meeting. CNN reported 2010: Behind closed doors and after four hours of negotiations, BP executives agreed to put $20bn into an independently managed compensation fund.

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS---Obama was joined in the negotiations by VP Joe Biden, and five cabinet secretaries, including DHS Janet Napolitano, interior secretary, Ken Salazar, energy secretary, Steven Chu, Labor Secy Hilda Solis, Valerie Jarrett, and COS Rham Emanuel. / PICTURE/BP Holdings.

DOING THE DEAL---Valerie takes notes as Obama dreams about his cut and new diamonds for Michele. In foreground, then-COS Rahm Emanuel's hand holds the pencil jotting down his cut that will help make him Chicago Mayor.

At the top, in turquoise, then-Labor Secy Hilda Solis figures out her cut and how many BP executive jobs she needs for latinos. Left, Valerie Jarrett hopes Biden will remember his scripted lines.

MOB HIT VP Joe Biden Told BP: "You’ll Put $20 Billion In Escrow Or We’ll Do It For You."

=============================================

Jarrett is "The Enforcer"---making sure Obama is properly adored and worshipped. If you don't worship Oboba-- Valerie's gonna getchou.

Chambliss 'shocked' by report of Bergdahl's note

“I can tell you the article in The New York Times today shocked me,” Chambliss said Tuesday on Fox News’s “The Kelly File.” “This note that he supposedly left that indicated that he was sympathetic to the Taliban and unsympathetic to the American interest in this conflict was not included in that file. And I'm very surprised by that because normally those classified files are pretty informative.”
To be clear, my theoretical was partly based on that statement.

If it's possible for such a 'note' to be omitted from a classified report available to Congress (intel reports are normally 'detailed'), then it's possible the same info didn't make it to the WH. And, frankly, while I admit that the plausibility of the scenario is remote, it certainly does explain quite a bit.

No matter how I game this, I can't figure out the upside for the Dems as a result of the fallout from this 'trade'. I'm of the opinion that the damage from this is much more telling to major problems within the Administration. Worse, it exposes our government as 'weak' (more weak than before). The ramifications of military & intel revolting against the Admin are ominous as well. Think about it: Bama's doing his 'cleaning house' at the Pentagon and the ranks of ranking officers, the military's budget is under assault, they're 'not happy' with forced integration and 'sensitivity training' for gays, pissed off about the VA scandal...what possible motivation would ranking officers in the Admin have for withholding 'just a little bit of info' from a hostile Admin with blinders on? Flame on, I could care less, but I think it's a valid question.

Insofar as 'irreparable damage'...look at the voting landscape. Independents are not on the left of the VA and this latest 'scandal'. Worse, RATs are openly attacking on this. The LIVs at DU, of course, are all fawning over POtuS no matter what, but without the independents, they're a minority.

Stupidity? Perhaps. But the complexity of the coalescing of such stupidity when balanced with at least one report with critical information to the situation withheld makes the 'stupidity' option much less the 'simple' explanation...imho. I'd been sitting on the thought on which some are flaming me for days; I still think it's a valid question, as the WH controlled this from the get-go (unlike the VA) and when they control it, they're gaming an outcome. I simply can't see the upside when balanced with all the fallout...
