That's my take on it -- it illustrates what most tyrants do when they grab power; but the parallels to the current situation are striking, particularly 36-39. For comfort, however, we can turn to all of the following chapter, 12 -- it's short but sweet!

Truly, Daniel is an astounding book of prophecy.
