He didn’t pay 6 million to have the deserter released. Payment for the deserter was release of the Gitmo terrorists. I’m betting on the previous poster’s comment that the $6M transaction was cover for something else. He made payment to them Taliban/Afghan for some “thing” or service to be carried out. I need to go back and re-read this thread. On my second glass of Moscato, and things are getting a little fuzzy.
