The first line of defense the regime has is to conduct itself in ways so outrageous that any true accounting of events will be decried as wild-eyed conspiracy theory, and thus be easily Alinsky'd . It has been that way from when a guy from Kenya (during his US Senate run) allegedly became a 'natural born citizen' and eligible to be POTUS. It may read like a bad spy novel, but it's what they do.
