In Hailey, Idaho, the hometown of freed U.S. soldier Bowe Bergdahl, the joy at his release has turned for some into shock and fear the fear of picking up the phone.
That's because some town officials have been deluged with angry calls from people who think that Bergdahl is an Army deserter or traitor who doesn't deserve a hero's welcome.

Bergdahl’s father is from California. Lots of people from California move to the mountain states.
Why don’t these officials wait for the truth to come out?
Bunch of hippies!
PFC Casillas, who was killed looking for this bastard, was from California too.
“I bet there are a lot of people from California living in that town.”
Well, Hailey is 3.65 square miles and has a grand total of 7,980 residents, so I guess you’d better define “a lot.” I will lay you odds that most of them are Mormons, not Californians. Anyway, I did my part and sent the city manager an e-mail to let her know that she had better be careful what the town does by way of a celebration.
>> “Stop the Hate”
An idiotic, puerile phrase.
Bruce was there first...

He is a Taliban agent now
I think they are confusing hate with a desire to see justice done.
Not small town people. Lots of money up there. Lots of celebrities. Lots of liberals.
I bet some of these people spit on soldiers returning home from Vietnam....they embrace THIS guy because he’s a traitor!
“...because some people think...”
It is true...the guy left his guard post, took only some clothes and his compass, hung-out with his friends (the taliban), for 5 years, caused 6 heroes to die trying to find him, sent anti-American messages, helped the taliban become better killers...and so on.
sure...” because sop,me people think...”
The traitor needs to meet a rope.
They demand due process but want to have a celebration prior to that due process...
They could well be celebrating a traitor that caused a number of other American's deaths but hey, lets have a party anyway...
And then they wonder why some people are upset and filled with "hate" over their actions...
The first thing that needs to be determined is “was he really a captive or merely a turncoat”. Note there is precedence for this, remember Korea.
Bingo

Hailey (pop. about 7,000) is located close to the ski resort of Sun Valley and is about a hundred miles east of Boise. Given the location you could assume it is a more left-leaning town than many towns in Idaho or surrounding states.
That being said, I would imagine there are plenty of patriotic citizens in the area too, and I’m sure they are making their feelings known.
That location impresses me in one way, I wouldn’t have thought that the CBC signal carried that far into America.
The town of Hailey is just 10 miles south of Sun Valley, Idaho. It is just a colony outpost of the Hollyweird set.
