Then tell us Bergdahl’s side if you know it so well. Are you saying the guy in his unit is lying? And if he tried to “escape”, do you really believe he would still be alive? And what about daddy’s tweets?

And even at the Rose Garden press conference, Obama wasn’t wearing a tie. Some have said muslims don’t wear ties and this was a signal of some sort. Conspiracy theories are so easy with Obama in charge.

I don’t know it so well. Nobody does. That’s my point. We are condemning him without knowing. That’s not right.

There are things that point to his guilt; to his losing his mind; and to his being an innocent or at least partly innocent captive.

I don’t know. But I don’t think anyone else on the board knows, either, and I hate to see him so vilified.

I doubt any guy in his unit is lying. They are saying what they know is true. I respect them.

If he tried to escape, yes, I think they’d keep him alive. He was more valuable alive than dead, wasn’t he? I think that makes some sense.

I won’t defend Obama, tie or no tie. I am just interested in seeing the Bergdahls treated fairly.

. There don't appear to be conflicting reports. His unit appears to be in agreement. The father is acting decidedly strange. But it's not surprising; he wanted his son brought home. Acting like an overt Muslim sympathizer would not play well.

"He was more valuable alive than dead, wasn’t he? I think that makes some sense."

No, historical Taliban behavior destroys that theory. They've murdered numerous foreigners in Afghanistan and other nations without blinking twice. Berg, Pearl, UN convoy personnel, doctors, etc.

There is nothing in their behavior that indicates that a lowly Private or Corporal is "valuable" in this sense unless he was providing actionable intel for them to kill our troops more readily and easily.

.

At the end of brief event, the soldier’s father, Bob Bergdahl, recited the most frequent phrase in the Koran — “Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim” — which means “In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Compassionate.”

After Bergdahl finished his statement and his praise for Allah, Obama hugged him.

The Taliban echoed Bergdahl, saying the trade happened “due to the benevolence of Allah Almighty and the sacrifices of the heroic and courageous Mujahidin of the Islamic Emirate.”
