An emergency dispatcher who made disparaging remarks about Oprah Winfrey during the Maya Angelou 911 call has been suspended.
John Ruckh was heard on the 911 tape saying that Oprah, a friend of Angelou's had "fallen out of grace" after a controversial interview in which Oprah expressed her thoughts about race in America.
"Unfortunately, I work in a high-profile job and everything's recorded," Ruckh told the Winston-Salem Journal. "This is in no way a racial slur, slander, associated conversation ... I really hate that this happened at the time that it did, because this is taking away from Maya Angelou's passing."

And private recorded conversations can cause you to be kicked out of the NBA. That’s the politically correct world we live in now. Oprah is a diety of sorts. One does not “diss” Oprah and not face the consequences.
Amazing isn't it? This is PC run amok. I have no doubt it will get a lot worse. These slime bags are not going to let up.
I don’t understand what he actually said?
It’s a largely one sided affair for now.
She is a goddess. Rub the Buddhess belly and get a new car.
The conversation is a bit garbled on the 911 recording and takes up less than a minute of the 7-minute call, but Ruckh appears to be saying that Oprah has fallen out of grace with a lot of people and asks someone if they have heard her recent rant. He says she is upset because people are not supportive of President Barack Obama and, apparently paraphrasing one of her statements, says that racism is alive because so many white people have been raised in the era of hating black people.
This thread source article is lousy, and a linked 2 min excerpt of the 911 call doesn't even have the right portion from the 7 min call. Sheesh.
Fallen out of grace with who? I can’t even tell what he is trying to say?
I haven’t had a “real” job since Carter destroyed the economy and I became self employed. I don’t think I could be rehabilitated or indoctrinated enough to handle a job in todays society.
The topic actually seems to be racism/bama (4:50); oprah would seem to be oblique part of it w/her comments in BBC interview "There are still generations of people, older people, who were born and bred and marinated in it, in that prejudice and racism, and they just have to die.".
Really hard take down of Angelou at The American Spectator.

Oprah likes her money but it won't buy her what she really wants .... to be a beautiful, slender and probably close to if not all the way white woman.
She's altered her nose, straightened her hair and catered to almost completely white audience. But she is still a fat black lady who most certainly does not look like Halle Berry.
I can't stand her politics and her blatant using and manipulation of the idiotic white women in her audience. But I've seen her acting chops and she's good at that.
FUOW
Was she an actress, poet, dancer, or singer? People liked her politics, and, out of ideological solidarity, reflexively praised her talents in multitudinous endeavors. At her most irresponsible, she embraced Fidel Castro, Malcolm X, and Bill Clintona mistake for a lady of any age.
Im not modest, Angelou explained last year to the AP. I have no modesty. She got to know herself, apparently, after getting to know poetry and politics and songs and stage. She usurped her parents privilege by renaming herself after finding Marguerite Johnson not quite arresting enough. In this spirit, she insisted that others call her Dr. Angelou though she never obtained a college degree.
The doctor without a doctorate became a teacher without students at Wake Forest. She collects an annual salary well into the six figures, yet presently teaches no classes and has no campus office, John Meroney, then a senior at the North Carolina school, wrote in The American Spectator twenty-one years ago. The office listed for her in the Wake Forest telephone directory is a storage closet in a building far from the main part of campus.
If I had a dollar for every time I was told to revere this fraud I'd be close to Oprah money.
I salute you for being sufficiently self employed for the last few decades to have survived. You made it work! I’m a better dreamer than doer. I’m very good at advising others how to plot their career goals.
What kind of ego must a person have to write 7 autobiographies? Give me a break
