Well the results speak for themselves. Many thousands of people who grew up (and attended public school) in the Bay Area are making six-figure incomes in the high tech companies surrounding the area. Some of them have founded or co-founded billion dollars companies. For example, Steve Wozniak and Stephen Jobs grew up there.
They are doing something right.
