ado's Civil Rights Commission on Friday ordered a baker to make wedding cakes...

The new slavery.

How is this different than ordering the person into the fields to pick cotton?

Is a whipping next? Oh, sorry... that's for the honeymoon.

He should make clear that he bakes both heterosexual wedding cakes and homosexual wedding cakes. The ingredients are not necessarily the same.

Skimming through the first three or four dozen reader comments -- it is way, way, way overwhelmingly, "The government is wrong, the baker has the right to discriminate and the customers had the right to go somewhere else." One person posted that he/she was for gay marriage, but that this was just too much.

When are we going to wake up to the fact that we are a majority being bamboozled and robbed and enslaved by a force that has been slowly, systematically seized by a minority working through government to achieve power of force?

I swear. Americans are a lot smarter and better and righter than most conservatives give them credit. Most conservatives wail that "We live in a nation where more than half of the idiots (excepting present company, of course!) voted for Santa Claus!" Wrong. We live in a nation where the votes that have tipped leftist politicians into office, represented pretend Americans and/or harvested franchises from homeless shelters, old folks homes, unions, etc. The real people on the ground say Screw Santa Claus, just about two to one. But because the MSM, pop culture, and public-funded education is made up of wildly disproportionate numbers of leftists, it projects an "America" where throngs are supporting this crap. They are as imaginary and pretend as Raiders of the Lost Ark.

If he cannot discriminate against anybody, then jewish bakers must bake cakes for Nazis, and black bakers must bake cakes for the Klan. Must not discriminate you know.

Close the bakery down.

Incorporate the next day under a new name.

The old entity went out of business. And the panel can shove their two years of quarterly reports up their rear end, which they would probably enjoy immensely.

If I were that baker, I would defy the Civil Rights Commission. The baker would garner the backing of 3/4 of the country, except for the homosexuals. I would be ready to accept the consequences, but I would stand my ground. Until people start doing that, we are going nowhere against the liberals.Think about what is happening here. Two homosexuals, people who are doing something wrong, are demanding that this baker create for them something that is a symbol of a religious ceremony so they can play like they are doing nothing wrong. I wouldn't do it!

Forcing someone to make something edible for you.  More evidence of Leftist's great choices...

You ever notice the only choices that are sacred, are those made by Leftists?

So this guy was the only baker in the entire Denver-Lakewood area and the gays had no where else to turn to get their wedding cake?

”… finding his [emphasis added] religious objections …”

Note how the self-deceiving activists on the commission are watering down 1A protected religious expression by referring to them merely as “his” religious objections. As much as I reference specific constitution-related material in my posts, referencing statements by both well-respected founders and justices, it is not unusual for the person that I’m addressing to regard these third-party statements as “my” opinion. Again, this is self-deception on part of person I’m having discussion with imo.

As previously noted on FR, what these pro-gay activists are doing is wrongly using government power to violate the 13th and 14th Amendments to promote their agenda. More specifically, Section 1 of the 14th Amendment prohibits the states from making laws, regulations and ordinances which unreasonably abridge constitutionally enumerated freedoms, the 1A freedom of religious expression in this case. And since the states have never amended the Constitution to expressly protect so-called gay rights, the power-abusing pro-gay activist, are clearly wrong concerning this issue imo.

Also, thanks to other freepers who pointed this out, and taxation issues, jury duty and conscription issues aside, the 13th Amendment prohibits involuntary servitude, which is arguably the direction that this is going.

Finally, note that it takes just a few paragraphs to get people up to speed on the unconstitutional aspects of this issue. The problem, sadly, is that since parents are evidently not making sure that their children are being taught how constitutional rights work, the consequence is the following. People like this baker get in trouble with respect to not being able to articulate their constitutional rights when getting harrassed by activists.

Read that a few times and ponder how frigging insane this country has become.

Waiting for a Jewish baker to be required to make a Nazi/SS cake. That is not the same thing as not serving them a cake already baked. I see comments like “...then Christians shouldn’t own a public business”. Just wow...I don’t think they hear the words coming out of their mouths.
